Material Supervisor
About the Role
Epitec is seeking to fill a Material Supervisor role with an OEM Tier 1 automotive supplier supporting Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Stellantis. This opportunity is located in Kansas City, KS and is responsible for leading Material Technicians supporting shipping, receiving, inventory control, and production operations within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. The Material Supervisor will oversee daily material flow activities, ensure on-time customer deliveries, maintain staffing and productivity targets, and drive operational excellence across warehouse and production support functions. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with experience in automotive logistics, supply chain operations, warehouse management systems, and Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Material Technicians supporting shipping, receiving, warehouse, and production operations.
- Maintain staffing levels and manage labor utilization within budgeted overtime targets.
- Support Operations and Material Coordinators to ensure on-time customer shipments.
- Monitor shipment schedules, truck windows, and shipping documentation accuracy.
- Escalate operational risks impacting safety, quality, delivery, or customer satisfaction.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and administer corrective actions when necessary.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee development.
- Ensure customer material requirements are met in a Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing environment.
- Maintain compliance with customer-specific logistics and material management requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or distribution operations.
- Experience leading hourly employees in a high-volume environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer proficiency and attention to detail.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when required.
- Experience supporting shipping, receiving, inventory control, or material handling operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing or Tier 1 supplier experience.
- Knowledge of customer-specific material management systems.
- Experience with SAP, WMS, CMMS, GMOS, or other inventory management systems.
- Experience supporting Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing operations.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
