Material Specialist (Forklift Operator)

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our team at Allegion/Republic Doors and Frames in McKenzie, TN.

Key Responsibilities

• Transfer materials to and from carriers and various work centers within the plant using a forklift.
• Manually adjust materials on forks, including adding or removing materials as needed.
• Manually push and pull forks to adjust their position for optimal handling.
• Refuel equipment and perform routine safety inspections on forklifts and other machinery.
• Maneuver forklifts and materials in congested areas with close proximity to personnel, ensuring safety at all times.
• Assist co-workers with material handling tasks and other duties as directed by supervision.
• Weigh and dump scrap materials, ensuring proper paperwork and documentation are completed accurately.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with plant safety rules.
• Follow all plant work and safety rules to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Ability and willingness to obtain forklift certification by successfully completing all required training, tests, and certifications.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and handle complex issues and problems independently.
• Strong ability to understand and follow directions accurately.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Demonstrated manual dexterity and physical stamina.
• Team player attitude with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is a plus.
