About the role
As a Material Planner with us, you’ll work closely with customer service, sales, purchasing, production, and inventory control to maintain an efficient flow of materials that maximizes efficiency, eliminates hindrances (labor and material shortages plus backlogs), and ensures compliance with materials requirements.
Responsibilities
- Planning and Scheduling
- Drive effective material flow to meet customer contracts and delivery dates.
- Use sales forecasts, lead times, and customer orders to create efficient manufacturing workflows that minimize overtime and maximize output.
- Plan and schedule material flow for each operation according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Monitor material requirements and availability, coordinating with inventory and procurement.
- Communication and Coordination
- Communicate daily with the production team to prioritize critical shipments, special projects, and safety stock.
- Coordinate with customer service and sales teams regarding critical orders, special projects, and daily customer orders.
- Work with design engineers on part number setup and First Article Inspection requirements for new customers or products.
- Resolve shortages or delays in production by coordinating with the purchasing team and inventory control manager.
- Coordinate with purchasing and inbound receiving teams to distribute materials for production.
- Resolve job problems reported by the production team and execute short- and long-term solutions.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Use the ERP system and MRP to schedule firm work orders.
- Analyze data and reports to create efficient scheduling.
- Develop metrics and reporting to measure production output and performance.
- Monitor and track orders to maintain manufacturing workflow and ensure on-time delivery.
- Prepare production reports.
- Analyze production specifications and capacity data to determine manufacturing processes and tools.
- Confer with the Production Supervisor to determine the status of assigned projects or production runs.
Requirements
- Highly desired: Associate Degree from a two-year college.
- ERP experience, specifically Sage.
- Scheduling/Planning certification.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

- Demonstrated planning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
