Job Summary

The Material Handling Technician I role encompasses four different indirect labor positions: Receiving, Shipping, Parts Warehouse, and Driver. The Material Handling Technician II demonstrates proficiency in two disciplines/areas above as defined in the training proficiency matrix OR as an advanced Shipper responsible for Big Box/FedGov and specialty domestic shipments requiring EDI/ASN understanding and training. The Material Handling Technician III is proficient in all Tech I and II tasks within the shipping department in addition to performing all tasks related to various International shipments.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

  • Manage inventory electronically using Syspro MRP system (and other computer applications).
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials in stock; records location of inventory.
  • Performs cycle counts of inventory.
  • Provides excellent service to customers (internal stakeholders) and vendors.
  • Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely to move parts and inventory to proper locations.
  • Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; and able to identify when lock out, tag out is appropriate.
  • Display keen awareness to safety guidelines, procedures, and policies; and ability to identify and report safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Support on-going reporting of key performance metrics.
  • Display job specific competency as defined by training proficiency matrixes.
  • Contributes ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and 3-4 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and performing inventory transactions.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills required (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with co-workers, internal customers and vendors.
  • Demonstrate great attendance, punctuality, and time sensitivity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multi-task accurately.
  • Quality-conscious individual with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
  • Works well in a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • For Driver: A valid Drivers' license with a clean driving record (CDL is not required).
  • Ability to follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and /or agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • At least 25 years old (at time of application) due to insurance requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Common To Material Handling Roles: Production floor.
  • Physical Demands: Repetitively lifting up to 50 lbs; and standing, bending, and walking for long periods of time.
  • Travel Requirements: Less than 5% of the time.
  • Overtime and/or shift change may be required).

Working Conditions (Driver)

  • Production floor, warehouse floor, and driving on highway and local roads.
  • Physical Demands: Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Travel Requirements: More than 80% of the time in vehicle to and from company locations.
