This position reports to the Production Supervisor in the West Bend plant and operates on 2nd shift.
About the role
Responsible for maintaining and verifying records and documentation of outbound shipments from production lines and keeping stock for all stations within the department.
Responsibilities
- Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using forklift, hand truck, electric dolly, or other device.
- May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Completes daily forklift inspection before startup.
- Assists with routine or general housekeeping tasks as they relate to the plant’s 6S plan.
- Ensures compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Able to perform basic math skills.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work self-sufficiently.
- Able to work within a team environment to accomplish overall goals.
- Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 2 years of forklift experience, ideally in a metal fabrication shop.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience moving large metal objects.
- Previous experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Push/pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Reach overhead frequently.
- Climb, squat, bend, kneel occasionally.
- Stand and walk/move about regularly.
Equipment operated: forklift, measurement devices, wrenches, screwdrivers, AWP, and various other hand and power tools.
Personal Protective Equipment required: hearing protection, eye protection, safety shoes, and other items as outlined per company GMP requirements.
Work Environment
Regularly exposed to varying temperature conditions between 60-100 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles, and fumes from production equipment.
