This position will function as the Team Lead for Material Handlers supporting the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The person in this role will perform Team Lead activities while also executing Material Handler duties.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with the client or client point-of-contact to discuss logistics for required tasks.
  • Monitor work for accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency; collaborate with Government personnel to ensure on-time and accurate service delivery.
  • Oversee personnel to ensure compliance with Standards of Conduct, personnel, and security requirements.
  • Serve as liaison between contract personnel and the client to resolve problems and communicate issues; escalate matters to the COR and/or Project Manager as needed.
  • Ensure all personnel sign in/out daily, verify timesheets, and confirm weekly totals.
  • Remain on-site during work performance, with limited exceptions.
  • Learn and understand work processes to assist with training personnel.
  • Ensure all labor tasks are completed within established production standards.
  • Perform Material Handler duties as assigned:
    • Locate containers or folders on shelving (up to 15' high) using provided location information.
    • Remove containers from shelving, verify pull list accuracy, report discrepancies, and deliver documentation to the POC.
    • Organize containers/folders on streamliners with identifying numbers visible.
    • Move records to the Designated Disposal Review Area.
    • Palletize disposable records (label, stack, shrink wrap).
    • Confirm space requirements, transport records, validate manifests, and shelve non-disposable records; notify Quality when inspection-ready.
    • Retrieve batched requests, log start/end times, and record batch details.
    • Locate requested files/folders, pull files, add markers, and report "Not-in-File" or "Charged-Out" items.
    • Audit folders and non-fulfilled requests upon batch completion; log completion times.
    • Prepare documents for scanning (remove fasteners, verify order), operate scanning hardware, verify image clarity, and rescan problem images.
    • Use handheld mobile devices for basic data entry, box list creation, data verification, and recording daily project totals.

Requirements

  • 3 years of directly related experience at NARA or a similar work environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Team Lead responsibilities.
  • Professional leadership skills, including motivating, guiding, and inspiring teams of 10–12 employees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships.
  • Ability to perform in a labor-intensive environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift boxes up to 30–50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to climb ladders to reach shelving up to 15 feet high.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • U.S. citizenship required for this contract.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Work Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment.
