What Does a Material Handler Do?

The Material Handler-Forklift Driver plays a crucial role in our production operations at the PAC manufacturing plant. This position involves using a sit-down forklift to transport raw materials and finished goods throughout the warehouse. Key responsibilities include conducting pre-shift safety checks, staging materials at critical locations, and removing materials at the end of the production line. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in manufacturing or distribution centers
• Sit-down forklift experience
• Safe forklift operation following all safety rules, using horns, and maintaining proper speeds
• Completion of a forklift pre-inspection sheet before operating equipment
• Completion of an internal forklift training program
• Detail-oriented with good organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts, including overtime, weekends, and absenteeism coverage
• Willingness to train in other areas of the plant
• Follows supervisor directions and adheres to all procedures
• Ability to prioritize tasks and exhibit a sense of urgency
• Uses scanning capabilities in D365 to maintain accurate inventory levels
• Stages raw materials for orders at production equipment in a timely manner
• Stretch wraps and stages completed pallets of product correctly
• Removes all trash from departments and places it in proper containers
• Maintains a clean and organized raw material warehouse
• Performs other related duties as necessary
