Principal Accountabilities (Summary)

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, ST Shipping I is responsible for verifying and maintaining records on incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, loading and unloading supplies trailers, pallet trailers, loading recycle trucks with empty containers, loading shipping containers, and other tasks seen fit on a stand-up powered industrial vehicle. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, loading and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material; arranging for the transportation of products while utilizing a handheld RF scanner focusing on inventory control and documentation.

Position Requirements

  • Educational/Credentials/Licenses: A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Position-specific vocational education/experience, training, or certification is preferred. Valid stand-up forklift experience is required.
  • Kind & Length of Experience: Mechanical/manufacturing experience preferred. 6+ months of stand-up forklift experience required. Shipping and receiving experience preferred.

Performance Measures and Standards

  • Examine shipment contents and compare them with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
  • Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders to route materials.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
  • Load trucks.
  • Minimal quality errors and/or mis-shipments.
  • Must have basic skills using computer software and RF Scanners.
  • Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care 14001 (RC14001)/Environment, Health, Safety, & Sustainability (EHS&S) management system.
  • Conform with the EHS&S Policy and the Cardinal Rules.
  • Maintain a safe and secure workplace and meet environmental site requirements.
  • Support the EHS&S objectives and targets, and any specific action plans or management programs assigned.
  • Understand the EHS&S risks and impacts of the employee’s job and functional area, including appropriate controls and procedures.
  • Understand the EHS&S impacts/consequence that could result if specified procedures are not followed.
  • Report accidents and incidents to a supervisor or the EHS&S department.
  • Participate in required EHS&S training.
