About the Role
The Material Handler ensures customer satisfaction by accurately processing customer orders, shipping, receiving intra-company transfers, and performing inventory counts.
Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift, two-wheel hand cart, and scales.
- Retrieve stock to fulfill orders.
- Check outgoing and incoming shipments for accuracy.
- Inspect orders for accuracy and goods for defects; report damaged or defective material/product to supervisor or sales staff.
- Place completed orders in designated areas.
- Monitor order movement and progress to ensure timely delivery.
- Perform order picking, packing, wrapping, labeling, and shrink-wrapping of palletized orders following standard operating procedures, including customer-specific requests.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by following the 6 S's (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety).
- Load finished products/orders onto trucks.
- Transport stock from storage to warehouse or other needed areas.
- Load or unload inbound or outbound material.
- Open bales, crates, and other containers.
- Assist in counting physical inventory.
- Wear proper safety equipment and abide by safety rules at all times.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
- 1-2 years of warehouse experience required.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience operating warehouse equipment and completion of a forklift training program.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and mathematical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of TFI/OSHA Safety Requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds for 4+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environments.
- Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to bend and crawl for 4+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to climb ladders for 4+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for 6+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manipulation, and feeling for 6+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to operate foot pedals for 4+ hours per shift.
- Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, express and exchange written or spoken words, and distinguish objects and equipment visually.
