Job Description

The Material Handler II is responsible for the safe, accurate loading and unloading of product within the distribution center. Duties include processing customer orders, palletizing, inbound/outbound shipments, and material handling equipment operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pallet/Case Picking:
    • Processing customer orders including scanning bar codes, picking and labeling boxes.
    • Pick, pack and process orders.
    • Processing orders through RF technology.
    • Maintain an acceptable work area as outlined in SOP and work instructions.
    • Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in SOP.
    • Complete all necessary RF device training to obtain the necessary profiles.
    • Verify accuracy and package shipments.
  • Pallet Build:
    • Palletizing to include scanning, retrieving and placing completed orders on pallets.
    • Re-palletizing products for shipment.
    • May be responsible for dock manifest duties which includes scanning completed pallets and running the shrink wrapper.
    • May be required to transport pallets by MHE.
    • Verify accuracy and package shipments.
  • Inbound/Outbound/Inventory Movement:
    • Load/unload inbound/outbound shipments using the WMS.
    • Ensure safety and minimize damage during loading/unloading.
    • Complete assigned duties in a timely manner.
    • Operate parcel manifest station.
    • Operate transportation documentation.
    • Maintain an acceptable work area as outlined in SOP and work instructions.
    • Complete necessary RF device training to obtain necessary profiles.
    • Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in SOP.
    • Adhere to safety instructions.
    • Report any suspicious persons or activity.

Safety and Security

  • Perform job activities safely and in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Conduct activities to promote a safe environment.
  • Report any injuries, accidents, unsafe acts, hazards or conditions immediately.

Hazmat Training

  • This associate may be provided with Hazmat training to include general awareness, function specific, security awareness, security plan and safety training.

Cross-training

  • Become knowledgeable with the responsibilities of other warehouse positions.
  • Aid as required and act as backup during absences or vacations.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience with MHE, including Order Pickers, Reach Trucks, Counter Balance (slip and clamp), and Dock Stocker.
  • Must be able to obtain Forklift Certification to meet client guidelines.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret distribution documents.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • May be required to operate MHE and use Voice/RF scanner.
  • Ability to perform/operate in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • General distribution knowledge.
  • The position will almost always have exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly exposed to episodes of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, twisting, lifting, frequent use of hands to finger, handle, feel, pick or type which can include repetitive motion of wrists, hands or fingers.
  • Occasionally required to climb.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs in some areas but not all.
