Material Handler - Mixing - 2nd & 3rd Shift
Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for storing, moving, and handling products and materials. Material Handlers work in a structured work environment to minimize safety risks. Material Handlers will need to be reliable and able to always work with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Identifies, transports, packs, removes and disposes of products and materials.
- Operates forklifts, handcarts, or pallet jacks to pick, replenish, shuttle, and load/unload orders.
- Maintain inventory levels as directed.
- Feed lines with product as scheduled or directed by supervision or line leads.
- Ship and receive materials throughout duration of shift.
- Operate all equipment in a safe manner.
- Count, weigh, record numbers of units or materials moved or handled.
- Ensure that product moved is identified and labeled correctly.
- Perform required housekeeping to maintain 5S and keep work areas clean, such as sweeping floors, putting trash into containers, and picking stray product up from the floor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Operate commercial grade mixing equipment with computerized control systems.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
- Must be knowledgeable in GMPs or the willingness to learn.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days.
- Ability to operate sit-down, stand-up and extended forklifts.
- Must have the ability to understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Reaching with hands/arms throughout shift.
- Ability to use hands and fingers.
- Ability to see, hear and talk.
- Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
- Able to walk up to 400 yards to work areas.
- Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems.
- Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
- Sufficient math skills; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Able to stand eight hours per shift.
- Repetitive reaching over head, under and across throughout shift.
- Push/pull items up to 2600 lbs. with assistance.
- May crawl under equipment to reach work area.
- Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, etc.
- May climb steps to and from work and break areas.
- Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
Job Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Previous Material Handling experience a plus, varies by location.
Work Environment
This is a manufacturing environment and there will be exposure to a variety of machines, noise levels, and varying temperatures. This is a team environment; Material Handlers - Mixing must be able to work together and communicate in a respectful and professional manner. Must be able to work necessary overtime based on staffing needs and customer demand, as well as across shifts.
Physical Requirements

- The employee may occasionally move up to 25 pounds with a hoist, pallet-jack or cart, and regularly lift up to 70 pounds of boxes/bags of ingredients.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ascending or descending stairs and/or balance throughout shift.

Schedule
Hours Of Operation: Monday through Friday + Overtime/Weekends. 2nd Shift: 2:00PM to 10:00PM. 3rd Shift: 10:00PM to 6:00AM.
