About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Material Handler supplies the department production line and assists with packing and shipping finished product in a safe and efficient manner to meet internal and external customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Promote and drive a safety-first culture, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors
- Know and follow safety and emergency procedures as needed
- Anticipate product changeovers, pick, and load/unload decoilers safely to aid in panel production per the daily production schedule
- Assist the Roll Former Operator by routinely performing quality checks and making machinery adjustments to ensure damage-free product
- Aid in wrapping and tagging panels
- Complete all daily orders
- Coordinate with department team members to ensure materials tracking compliance and steady production flow
- Maintain a clean work area and prepare workstations throughout the shift
- Complete housekeeping and workstation prep tasks before the end of the shift
- Assist with preventative maintenance on machinery as per training
- Troubleshoot and notify supervisors of machine breakdowns or issues
- Maintain and update the department’s visual tracking production schedule board
- Cross-train on other machines in the department or plant
- Support department and plant goals, including safety, quality, scrap prevention, and operational excellence
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to properly utilize and maintain all personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Basic reading, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to read a tape measure, perform basic mathematical calculations, and use a calculator
- Dependable attendance record
- Ability to receive and follow instructions, including technical and multi-step directions
- Ability to work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work safely, remain calm, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to contribute innovative solutions to work-related challenges

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous forklift, manufacturing, or field-related experience
Physical Requirements
- Standing for long periods of time
- Routine lifting up to 50 lbs (occasional lifting up to 80 lbs)
- Frequent to occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, bending, and twisting
