About the Role

Material Handlers of Linen, under the direction of Supply Chain Management, receive, store, collect, track, and transport linen (sterile, clean, and/or soiled) throughout SJMHS, including off-site clinics and satellite locations. This role involves working well within teams, independently, efficiently, and safely while utilizing computer tracking software, handheld units, and associated Supply Chain equipment. Assignments may include linen delivery routes and driving a cargo truck, requiring adherence to Michigan driving laws and truck maintenance responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Transport and deliver equipment, linen, scrubs, and supplies to all user departments from supply holding areas.
• Manage unit inventories and coordinate linens to ensure adequate daily par levels and supply needs.
• Work closely with Receiving Dock Handlers to coordinate the flow of supplies, linen, and equipment.
• Assist in unloading Co-op laundry trucks and transport clean linen to the clean linen holding area.
• Prepare unit-specific clean linen exchange carts following prescribed schedules and par levels.
• Deliver clean linen exchange carts to specific department locations.
• Collect soiled linen daily from SJMHS units and transport it to the dock.
• Transfer soiled linen from SJMHS collection carts to Co-op laundry carts for transport.
• Place linen replenishment orders with Co-op Laundry.
• Operate freight elevators to transport supplies to and from designated areas.
• Maintain required distribution records.
• Answer telephones, respond to routine inquiries, and maintain good customer service.
• Operate SJMHS truck to transport linen to off-site clinics and satellite locations.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI), monitor the physical condition of the truck, and fill the truck with gas.
• Operate power industrial pallet jacks to transport heavy supplies throughout SJMHS.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient, physician, employee, and visitor information.
• Perform job duties safely, report hazards, and adhere to SJMHS Mission, Vision, and Values.
• Participate in problem-solving and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues.
• Perform other job duties as requested.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Current Michigan Driver’s License.
