This position supports the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in a warehouse and records-storage setting.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

Pay

$19.41 per hour plus Health & Welfare funds to offset benefit costs.

Requirements

  • Climb ladders to access shelving up to 15 feet high

Responsibilities

  • Locate containers or folders on shelving using pull lists or reports; retrieve from floor or shelving up to 15' high with a pulpit ladder.
  • Remove containers, verify accuracy of pull lists, mark discrepancies, initial documentation, and deliver to the point of contact.
  • Stage containers or folders on streamliners in order, facing the same direction, with identifying numbers visible.
  • Move records to the Designated Disposal Review Area.
  • Palletize disposable records: label, stack, and shrink-wrap containers.
  • Confirm space requirements, load and transport records, validate manifests, shelve non-disposable records, verify accuracy, and notify Quality when inspection-ready.
  • Retrieve batched requests, sign out batches in logbooks, record start times, and process requests.
  • Search boxes for requested files/folders; pull single or multi-volume files, insert pulled-file markers, and report “Not-in-File” or “Charged-Out” items.
  • Audit folders and non-fulfilled reference requests upon batch completion; sign in completed batches, record completion times, and stage files for auditing.
  • Retrieve documents from containers, remove fasteners, and prepare documents for scanning.
  • Verify hardware settings and resolution, convert paper to digital images, inspect image clarity, rescan problem images, and return documents to containers.
  • Report scanning issues to the point of contact as needed.
  • Use handheld mobile devices to complete basic data entry in spreadsheets, assist with box-list creation, data verification, and record daily project totals.

Work Conditions

Primarily performed in a warehouse environment.
