About the role

The Wasserstrom Company, the nation’s leading Food Service Distributor established in 1902, is seeking Material Handler IV positions in our Allentown, PA Distribution Center. This role directs and audits warehouse work activities to ensure efficiency, safety, on-time delivery, and quality assurance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support management of workflow
  • Utilize AS400 Warehouse Management System to create and sort batches of orders, communicate order fulfillment issues to the sales team, resolve system batching issues, and organize workload for the DC floor
  • Assign tasks to warehouse workers
  • Monitor and respond to emails and other forms of communication (verbal, written, electronic) in a timely manner, including requests from management and sales
  • Use AS400 and SAP to identify discrepancies
  • Conduct miscellaneous inventory rectification and identification
  • Perform quality and safety audits
  • Train associates on proper procedures, practices, and equipment
  • Operate multiple pieces of equipment, including stock chasers, order pickers, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, and turret trucks
  • Pick, put away, or count product from/to racking in case or pallet quantities
  • Utilize RF and/or pick labels to verify item, quantity, and location for picking or receiving
  • Pass all safety checks and forklift certifications on equipment and complete daily operator checklists
  • Mark and label containers, tags, or products using marking tools
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials
  • Use AS400 computer to print labels, bills of lading (BOLs), and pack slips
  • Validate quantity, quality, and model number of product
  • Pack outbound cartons/shipments to minimize risk of damage and freight costs
  • Apply all required labeling to products, cartons, and pallets
  • Utilize shipment software to sort and segregate products and materials
  • Assemble, pack, and seal cartons
  • Load and unload trailers
  • Consolidate and transport picked products using carts and hand jacks
  • Maintain an incident- and accident-free driving history

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read and recognize unique product identifiers
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure
  • Strong reasoning ability and ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with management and coworkers
  • Ability to prioritize business needs and adjust to time constraints
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team; detail-oriented
  • Organizational skills to handle assignments and deadlines
