About the role

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Books Production or their designee, this position provides for the efficient handling and movement of materials to and from designated areas in the facility as required for processing of product.

Responsible to pick books for customer orders using RF (radio frequency) hand-held computer devices, place selected books into or onto appropriate containers (totes on conveyor lines or book trucks), stock and shelve inventory, and scan materials via hand-held RF device. Research and correct stocking errors as needed.

Enter information into computer systems (SCS and Oracle) for order fulfillment, process appropriate labels and stickers for foreign and/or special accounts, capture images of materials to assist in proper processing, and strip materials for re-processing according to requirements.

Perform other duties of equal or lesser classification, including maintaining safe, clean, and organized work areas, emptying trash cans, and sweeping floors. Cross-training and substitution of tasks of higher classification may be required by supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Strip materials for re-processing according to requirements.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas, including emptying trash and sweeping floors.
  • Perform other duties as directed, including mandatory overtime and cross-training for higher classification tasks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and/or equivalent.
  • Capable of performing at an acceptable proficiency level within production standards of efficiency and skill.
  • Ability to use an RF hand-held computer device.
  • Ability to read and understand filing conventions, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Flexible to make appropriate safety decisions and responsive to changing work environments.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers.
  • Adherence to Brodart rules, policies, and standards of conduct.
  • Ability to work in a production environment with varied temperatures, noise (conveyor), dust, and adhesives.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for 8-hour shifts.
  • Frequently bend and lift 40 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds.
  • Close and distant vision, use of hands and fingers to handle and feel, and ability to talk and hear.
  • Subject to scheduled overtime based on production needs.

Schedule

Full-time, 2nd shift position.
