About the role
A Materials Handler (Forklift Driver III) is responsible for storing, moving, and handling materials. This role operates in a highly structured work environment to minimize safety risks, with each job planned in detail before commencement.
Schedule
Monday through Friday (weekends required)
1st Shift: 6:55 AM – 3:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Stage product for use and maintain inventory controls.
- Operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts) to pick, replenish, shuttle, and load/unload orders.
- Feed production lines and contribute to daily inbound and outbound operations (shipping/receiving).
- Count, weigh, or record units of materials moved or handled.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, including wearing protective gear and disposing of materials as required by law.
- Physically move materials and use heavy equipment regularly.
- Communicate clearly and follow direction from leads/supervisors.
- Ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certification.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Previous materials handling experience required.
- Must obtain forklift certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- Experience with stand-up forklifts, extended forks, and side-shifting.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, frequent walking, grasping, lifting, holding, or feeling objects.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Frequent use of manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Regularly assist and support up to 90 pounds with varying levels of assistance.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range; ability to operate equipment.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures (hot or cold), fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
- Loud noise levels in the work environment.
