Material Handler I
Job Summary
The Material Handler is primarily responsible for the transfer of raw materials, parts, and finished products between various production areas and internal and/or external warehouses. Day to day duties will include (but are not limited to) delivering parts to the assembly line with the use of equipment in a timely manner to ensure adherence to production schedules, as well as monitoring inventory levels of materials.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Delivers parts to production areas in a timely manner
- Count material, equipment, or supplies as requested in stock and reports totals or updates inventory records
- Prepares a list of depleted items, as well as defective or unusable items
- Locate and extract information from files or online locations as requested
- Immediately report all safety incidents/accidents, no matter how small, to their supervisor
- May participate in weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual physical inventories by entering data into the system and supporting the overall inventory process
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write notes and memos
- Must possess math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure
- Demonstrate ability to speak clearly to be understood in one-on-one conversations
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Prior material handling experience in a warehouse/ industrial environment
Education And/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Read, write, comprehend and verbally communicate in English
- Capable of operating any Power Industrial Vehicle (PIV)(Testing Required)
Physical Demands
- Physical ability to climb stairs, bend, sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, push, pull and use hands and fingers to feel and handle material for extended timeframes
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly and regularly
- Includes the ability to stoop, squat, crawl, and kneel as needed
