We sell our products through wholesale distribution across the United States and Canada.

About the role

The scope of this position is to move, deliver, organize, cycle count, and track various materials and components within the manufacturing operations of Orenco Systems. Primary duties include movement and accounting of WIP (work in progress), subcomponents, and finished products. You will be responsible and accountable for the direct electronic movement of raw material, WIP, and finished goods.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously maintain Orenco’s safety, cultural, and professional standards while promoting a positive safety culture and safe work environment.
  • Navigate computer systems to look up part locations, check inventory, and manage orders.
  • Maintain and organize materials in corresponding storage areas using appropriate apps.
  • Perform inventory control and cycle counting.
  • Order raw material from the warehouse in assigned areas.
  • Deliver finished goods within two days of order ship date.
  • Communicate professionally with receiving, transfer drivers, production, and inventory control staff to prioritize workload for handling subcomponents and other shop-specific materials.
  • Inform management of overstocking or inventory shortages and help determine reorder points and max inventory levels.
  • Coordinate, prioritize, and schedule the movement of support materials and finished goods with warehouse staff and work cells.
  • Operate fork trucks, carts, and pallet jacks, and use handheld scanners.
  • Track and deliver goods from drop zones, ensuring accurate placement in designated bin locations.
  • Request transfers to re-stock controlled inventory in various locations.
  • Anticipate and respond to material needs of specific work centers.
  • Report inventory shortages and count issues to the Shipping and Material Handling Manager and Material Control Manager.
  • Perform cycle counts of subcomponents, WIP, and other departmental materials.
  • Perform daily safety inspections on forklifts before operation and refuel when necessary.
  • Organize movement of subcomponents, finished goods, and WIP materials to eliminate delays or inefficient production scheduling.
  • Empty trash dumpsters into the appropriate receptacle as they are filled or at the end of shift.
  • Keep materials areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Cross-train in similar duties within the job description at multiple company locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year in a Material Handler I role before advancing to Material Handler II, with completion of skills sign-off by the Material Handling Manager.
  • Must be forklift certified (or achieve certification within 30 days of hire) and demonstrate safe driving practices.
  • Completion of initial eight-hour Emergency Response & HazWopper Operations level training is required, with annual eight-hour refresher training thereafter. Training includes:
    • Emergency communication, alarms, and evacuation routes.
    • Contingency plan implementation and emergency response procedures.
    • Emergency equipment use and inspection.
    • Incident response (fire, explosion, soil, and water contamination).
    • Site shutdown procedures.
    • Hazardous waste management, including handling and storage rules.
  • Good working knowledge of part locations or the ability to acquire it quickly.
  • Adequate reading, writing, and math skills to perform job duties.
  • Proficiency in counting and entering data for transactions/transfers.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills, including flexibility and patience.
  • Ability to avoid disruptive behaviors and maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and assume responsibility with occasional supervision.
  • Diplomacy in handling multiple demands and adjusting to priority changes with little notice.
  • Ability to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations.
  • Sound judgment and follow-through in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business. Must meet company insurability requirements.

Skills

  • Proficiency with tools and equipment, including:
    • Calculator, cell phone, computer, and tablet.
    • Distillation equipment, forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, scissor lift.
    • General office equipment, miscellaneous hand tools, multi-line phone with intercom, Panatracker, two-way radio, vehicle.

Working Conditions

This role operates in indoor/outdoor production, warehouse, and office environments with exposure to chemicals, styrene, paints, solvent fumes, and/or dusts. Exposure levels are below standard limits, and protective equipment (e.g., Tyvek suits, dust masks, hearing protection, gloves) is provided. Outside production areas include exposure to fluctuating weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular duties include seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, and keyboarding, with periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
  • Time on the manufacturing floor involves prolonged standing and walking on concrete floors, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, measuring, cutting, stacking, bending, twisting, stooping, and squatting.
  • Repetitive foot and hand movement with good manual dexterity.
  • Unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs.; lifting over 70 lbs. must be assisted.
  • Occasional operation of a motor vehicle.
