Material Handler I
Role Overview
Prepare and maintain inventory records of all inventoried items. Ensure that all inventory items are properly identified and readily accessible. Maintain stock and/or inventory control, and to support production personnel by ensuring parts are delivered as needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Use the computer, post inventory records of accepted new materials received, and materials dispensed by job orders or as recorded on Material Requisition slips.
- Take periodic inventories, as determined by company policy, to verify inventory records and corrects discrepancies.
- Take spot inventories as required.
- Identify and stock bins and/or shelves with received supplies, parts, and/or materials in their respective locations.
- Weigh count items for verification when issuing materials from the stockroom to job orders and obtains Material Requisition slip for items being removed from stock.
- Check inventory records of items on hand and when order point is reached, notifies Purchasing to requisition amount to reach minimum inventory requirements.
- Perform routine filing as required.
- Compare identifying information and quantities on the packing slip against the purchase order of each shipment, weight counts items for verification, and indicates any discrepancies.
- Ensure identifying information is clearly visible on packaging.
- Enter other incoming shipments in the computer, as physical counts have already been verified.
- Handle return shipments (RMA’s) to manufacturer.
- Perform data entry that assists in the pickup and receiving of products requiring subcontracted services.
- Place items on mobile racks for transportation to Quality, Storeroom, and other designated locations.
- Responsible for inspection, color coding and the inventory of all metallic bar stock.
- Performs additional responsibilities as required.
Critical Competencies for Success
- Occasional heavy lifting of stock and parts required
- High School diploma or GED required
- Good communication knowledge
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate computers
- Knowledge ISO 9001 is preferred
