Material Handler - Day Shift
Primary Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of this position is to load and unload product pallets for sterilization in strict compliance with the established irradiator operational product shift plan. The role ensures proper placement of product dosimetry in accordance with validated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and organizes the sterilization queue based on the availability of finished goods. Additionally, this position monitors recycling system streams and minimizes any interference of recycling waste with production flow.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Transfers all non-sterile product to the product pallet loader using a forklift for irradiation, following the applicable loading diagram.
- Inspects, places, and documents product dosimeters throughout each lot.
- Safely operates the irradiator, internal and external conveyors, and all supporting auxiliary equipment.
- Accurately counts and records the number of cases loaded and unloaded.
- Diagnostics equipment malfunctions and performs timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Assists the Irradiator Operator with routine safety and operational checks of the sterilizer and facility.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the Irradiator Operations area.
- Ensures proper product and lot segregation in pre-sterile and post-sterile staging areas.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and totes.
- Works under the direction of the Shift Irradiator Operator.
- Completes special projects within the Irradiator Operations Department or other departments as required.
- Maintains compliance with all government and company safety regulations, environmental and emergency procedures, and Quality System Requirements.
Working Conditions
- Somewhat disagreeable working conditions.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves materials up to 25 pounds; occasionally lifts and/or moves materials up to 65 pounds.
- Exposure to fumes and high-frequency noise in manufacturing and warehouse areas.
- Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical systems, and other energy sources.
- Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, eye protection, and safety shoes.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 6 to 12 months of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Pay and Benefits
The range for this position is $19.25 hourly rate - $22.50 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
