Material Handler Carpet Cushion

About the role

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for one (1) Material Handler in the Carpet Cushion Department at the Richmond Plant location (2400 Richmond Highway, Richmond, VA 23234). The role involves the efficient movement, safe transportation, storage, and tracking of materials and finished product within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate powered industrial trucks to pick up, move, or load material in support of Carpet Cushion operations, as necessary, from production area and/or to the loading docks.
• Pull raw/finished materials from inventory/stock area.
• Properly label all partial blocks for future use.
• Operate a forklift in confined areas where other forklifts are operating and where employees are walking and working.
• Follow the Carpet Cushion department layout plan for proper storage locations.
• Read and completely understand the labeling process.
• Read and write English.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Utilize measuring tools, basic math and compute, complete paperwork, and conduct quality checks.
• Communicate with department supervisor, lead, and production personnel.
• Other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing, chemical, or production environment.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.

Pay

Compensation begins at $21.42 per hour and tops at $22.97 per hour.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 1st Shift (6:00 am to 2:30 pm). Employees are expected to work more than 8‑hour shifts and on weekends as needed to meet production needs.
