About the role

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, this position receives materials and distributes them accordingly. The Material Handler is also responsible for entering and maintaining appropriate inventory levels of stock within the hardware cage.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately read work orders and follow oral instructions to pull parts and materials of various sizes and weights for jobs
  • Issue and receive materials to/from jobs using MRP system
  • Complete periodic cycle counts and inventory when needed
  • Enter inventory transactions (in or out) directly into computer system
  • Identify materials needed for staging orders for the next operation
  • Perform, report cycle counts, and report inventory inconsistencies to Team Lead
  • Pull and put away all material accurately
  • Run material routes throughout the manufacturing plant
  • Organize stock using forklifts, pallet jacks, pallets, etc.
  • Document orders, materials, and any stock movement
  • Deliver product items to designated staging areas/workstations
  • Help monitor first in-first out control of inventory to production
  • Support departmental goals and objectives for quality, production, and equipment maintenance
  • Comply with all established safety and housekeeping procedures and policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Graduate required
  • Experience in parts or inventory tracking required
  • Production experience with high attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple correspondence in English (bilingual Spanish a plus)
  • Computer knowledge – Outlook, Excel, Word, and Visual or other ERP system
  • Forklift certified (specifically cherry picker/high rise)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 9 hours per day
  • Ability to move freely, and be agile, flexible to bend, stoop, squat, reach into, over, and under shelves, bins, baskets, and racks
  • Ability to work effectively under general supervision

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; occasionally required to sit and communicate with coworkers; frequently required to hear, walk and continuously stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate, with exposure to loud noise when on the production floor.
