Material Handler
Brief Description
The Material Handler is responsible for moving, storing, and managing various materials for transformers. They play a key role in the supply chain and logistics, ensuring that products are available to the team when needed and that shipments are on time and meet quality standards. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role.
The hours for this role are Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm. Ensures orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product final distribution.
Responsibilities
- Pulls and verifies materials and supplies listed on production orders.
- Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
- Documents materials and records units delivered and location of units.
- Packs, crates, loads, and secures product for finished stock preparation for shipment.
- Completes pre-use inspections of material-handling equipment and operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items.
- Signals machine operators to move materials.
- Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.
- Receives and inspects incoming materials and products for quality, quantity, and accuracy of shipment.
- Verifies inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigates discrepancies or adjusts errors.
- Stores items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Mark units with identification tags or other labeling equipment.
- Handles documentation of work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Maintains inventory transactions and performs cycle counts to ensure accuracy of stock levels.
- Assists with inventory control and audits as needed.
- Maintains safe, clean, and orderly workstation.
- Other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements
- HS Diploma/GED preferred.
- 1 year of experience in material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.) preferred.
- WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
- OSHA10 certification preferred.
- A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
- Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization.
- Notifies management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders.
- Meets department and production goals set by supervisor.
- Ensures product quality meets company and client expectations.
- Possesses a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail, and can work in a team environment.
- Adheres to the company’s employee handbook policies and embodies the organization’s core values.
- Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
- Completes company compliance and safety training when required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times.
- Standing and walking for long durations.
- Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations.
- The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times.
- Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time.
- Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled.
