Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling & Inventory
- Safely operate material‑handling equipment, including forklifts and clamp trucks.
- Receive, move, stage, and transfer raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Work with RF scanners to receive, move, and adjust inbound and outbound materials.
- Match substrate receipts against actual quantities received.
- Maintain products stored in paper inventory and coating area racks.
- Check partial skids for proper packaging and complete transfer reports.
- Coordinate the transfer of finished goods into inventory.
- Set over finished work when production constraints dictate.
- Clock in and out accurately.
- Maintain proper handling and storage of substrates and packaging materials.
- Coordinate the transfer of finished goods into inventory.
- Coordinate workflow with associates across departments.
- Monitor boxes for mislabeling and potential mixing.
- Execute production schedules accurately to maximize throughput.
- Enter job tracking and payroll information accurately in system.
- Shipping & Receiving
- Pick, pull, scan, and build shipments using pick sheets and RF scan guns.
- Build special skids and related packaging materials as needed.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks and verify skid and carton counts.
- Label skids accurately with skid number, box count, weight, and destination city.
- Complete shipping documentation including pick sheets, transfer reports, and required records.
- Ensure customer specifications are followed per ship request or email.
- Stage and load empty skids and tops for return.
- Production & Workflow Support
- Read and understand job tickets and layouts to ensure correct product quality.
- Execute production schedules accurately to maximize throughput.
- Clock in and out accurately.
- Carefully monitor boxes for mislabeling and potential mixing.
- Enter job tracking and payroll information accurately in system.
- Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Comply with all plant and corporate safety rules, GMPs, and regulations.
- Report all safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain daily housekeeping and clean work areas.
- Absorb and pass on knowledge of preventative maintenance and equipment adjustments.
- Assist with baling, waste disposal, and waste stream separation.
- Properly mark and document waste containers.
- Complete Hour‑by‑Hour boards daily.
- Participate in SQDC and process improvement activities.
- Support 6S and Lean practices.
- Absorb and pass on knowledge of shoveling and salting when required.
- High school diploma or equivalent training and experience (6–12 months).
- Forklift experience required; RF scan gun experience required.
- Ability to operate material‑handling equipment.
- Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of inventory control and shipping/receiving is a plus.
- Ability to meet or exceed performance metrics for the role.
- Manufacturing environment requiring PPE including safety shoes and safety glasses.
- Ability to stand and walk frequently; may be on feet 8–12 hours per shift.
- Frequent use of hands, reaching with arms, grasping, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing.
- Exposure to paper dust and repetitive motion.
- Medium to loud noise levels.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
