Material Handler: 2nd shift Plate
About the role
Responsible for movement of raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout the facility using a forklift truck. May also utilize cranes, hoists, hand trucks, and other moving equipment to meet job requirements. Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems.
Responsibilities
- Accurately removes and stocks product, customer’s product, and various supplies according to inventory plan.
- Accurately selects product to fill customer orders and package them properly.
- Loads and unloads trucks and verifies that correct items are loaded and unloaded.
- Picking, processing, and packing orders; may also be required to cut orders on Kaltenbach saw.
- Completes cycle counts.
- Identifies, holds, and segregates defective material.
- Completes paperwork per work instructions, when required.
- Performs general clean-up.
- Inspects forklift at the beginning of every shift; reports issues to immediate supervisor or other designated personnel.
- Participates, supports, and complies with all health, safety, ISO, and 6S initiatives and requirements.
- Assists in any other duties to support the operation, as requested by supervisor or team lead.
This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Ability to read and write English (in Quebec, must read and write French)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. for 100 feet
- Ability to perform basic math skills
- Previous forklift experience
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time and perform bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, and grasping motions
- Safety mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Use of handheld measuring tools
- Basic computer skills and knowledge, such as with database programs and Microsoft Office programs
