About the role
The Second Shift Material Handler is responsible for loading/unloading trucks, moving freight, scanning product, disposing of trash/cardboard, and handling furniture with care while following product respect procedures.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks; move furniture using hand trucks, carts, or dollies.
- Scan product to and from carts, racks, and bays to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
- Push, pull, or lift product on and off lift truck carts.
- Stage and open product in delivery bays; inspect product condition.
- Blanket wrap furniture for transport or delivery; package wrap product for storage.
- Utilize foam packaging to secure fragile items during transport.
- Dispose of trash/cardboard; operate baler, compactor, vacuum, and scrubber to maintain a clean and organized distribution center.
- Arrive punctually and consistently for assigned shifts.
- Contribute to team efforts by performing related duties as needed.
Working Conditions
This is an onsite position operating in a professional warehouse environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment (scanners, computers, photocopiers, smartphones) as well as warehouse tools (dolly, hand trucks, baler, lift truck).
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- Able to push, pull, and lift heavy or large objects for extended periods.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of warehouse logistics and basic computer skills.
- Highly motivated, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing safety.
- Ability to be certified in lift truck battery maintenance.
- Ability to learn fabric/leather characteristics for protective applications.
- Ability to be trained in cardboard bale removal.
