Material Handler 1st Shift TDI
TDI has been a leading designer and manufacturer of turbine-powered start systems for over 40 years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton, OH is part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company, uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site, Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry.
About the role
Provides general material support throughout the site.
Responsibilities
- General housekeeping in area (5S)
- Prepares domestic dock shipments to include crating, boxing, labeling, and examining for specifications
- Checks pack list and verifies accuracy
- Prepares and sets up boxes for shipping
- Boxes and crates shipments for outside services
- Prepares OV shipments
- Consolidates shipping
- Pulls parts by FIFO
- Ships domestic shipments based on customer requirements
- Uses FedEx/UPS/DHL process for domestic shipments
- Banding and shrink wrapping
- Prepares specific customer labels
- Operates a forklift with proper training
- Unloads trucks
- Receives materials using set process by utilizing proper tracking and moving materials accordingly
- Restocks materials
- Replenishes point-of-use materials
- Uses measuring devices including scales
- Reviews, understands, and follows work instructions and procedures
- Ensures all company paperwork is filled out accurately
- Meets team goals
- Cross-trains
- Works with other areas in the shop to support the movement and storage of materials
- Works to established Lean Manufacturing guidelines
- Transports material to and from OV suppliers in company van
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 6 months of related experience and/or training
- Forklift certification
- Valid driver license is required to operate a forklift and company van
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior shipping, receiving, and stores experience
- Prior import/export experience
- Prior resource planning system experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Compliance with and support for all GE policies and the “Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment” guide
- Excellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and vendors

Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day
- Must be able to work with upper body extremities
- Must be able to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on occasion (items over 30 pounds will be lifted with assistance)
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving high-speed machinery and/or mechanical parts
- Use of approved chemicals
- Possible exposure to dust, fumes, or smoke from normal machining operations (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL))
- Moderate noise level in the work environment
Pay
$20.10 per hour
