Material Handler - 1st Shift
About the role
Amerhart, an SBP brand, is hiring for a 1st shift Material Handler position in their Jackson, MI - Amerhart facility. The primary responsibility is to perform all duties associated with shipping, receiving, and stocking warehouse material. This role requires collaboration with the Operations team, including helping others, treating teammates with respect, and ensuring safe work practices.
Responsibilities
- Unload common carrier trucks and railroad cars and replenish product in the designated location in the warehouse.
- Pick orders using a forklift until the order is completely filled.
- Report any problems such as shortages or damaged material, etc.
- Inquire with sales team members when orders cannot be shipped as ordered and make changes as directed by sales.
- Use handheld scanner when receiving product, picking orders, loading trucks, and cycle counting in accordance with Warehouse Management System (WMS) processes.
- Collaborate with Warehouse Management System (WMS) Coordinator on questions and updates.
- Band, wrap, and prepare material for safe shipping.
- Arrange orders on trucks according to safe weight distribution practices.
- Follow safety procedures and policies when performing warehouse duties.
- Fulfill miscellaneous functions such as filling orders for incoming customers, performing routine maintenance work, inspecting forklifts, and cross-training and backing up others in the warehouse.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 1-2 years warehouse experience, preferably in a distributorship
- Neat and clean appearance
- Proven ability to work as a member of a team

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a cross-functional team environment
- Working knowledge and techniques associated with organizing and setting priorities
