Material Handler 1
About the role
Receive and store purchased and inter-company transferred goods. Pick, pack, ship and distribute goods with required documentation to meet company needs. Participate in physical inventories of the warehouse, issue and deliver goods to manufacturing. Candidate is a team player with a positive attitude.
Hours are 2pm – 10pm with occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
- Performs manual and routine duties in one or more of the following areas: shipping, receiving, material supply, and inventory control.
- Pick items with emphasis on attention to detail.
- Receive all incoming materials and store at the correct location.
- Inspect and compare with packing lists, bills of lading, purchase orders, discrete jobs, variances, MRAs, and/or related documentation. Report discrepancies or damaged goods.
- Document and label materials according to procedures.
- Deliver accepted items of received materials.
- Prepares related documentation and maintains files/records as required using computer technology.
- Operate material handling equipment as necessary.
- Accurately pull products for customer orders, discrete jobs, and/or related documents for shipments or assemblies, noting items for FIFO and lot numbers.
- Manage distribution and inventory activities, including preparing shipping documents, entering and tracking data in ERP and distribution systems, maintaining accurate inventory and cycle counts, ensuring cGMP/ISO and carrier compliance, coordinating with cross-functional teams, keeping work areas organized, and supporting warehouse functions and overtime needs during peak periods.
Requirements
- Use and operate hand trucks and/or pallet movers.
- View video display terminal images.
- Lift, tug, or pull up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses) while working in certain areas or performing certain tasks.
Qualifications
- High School education or GED.
- 1-2 years' experience in shipping and receiving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Inventory Control experience.
- Inbound/Outbound shipping and receiving experience highly preferred.
- Oracle knowledge is helpful.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software relating to receiving activities.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of hand trucks and pallet movers.
Pay
Pay range for this position: $17.00 - $27.00 per hour. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
