Material Handler 1 (3rd Shift)

This position is responsible for assisting with production and mixing schedule setup, workflow processes, and participating on project teams. The role supports Value Stream Team Leaders with activities and fills in on the production floor as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate material handling equipment such as standup and sit-down forklifts, walkie-riders, and material tuggers.
  • Keep accurate records of all materials and weigh when required.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory documentation through computer transactions.
  • Stretch wrap material, if required.
  • Dump scrap tubs as required.
  • Change batteries of equipment as required.
  • Use physical effort to perform job duties.
  • Maintain operator certification for material handling equipment.
  • Foster professionalism with all associates and internal/external customers.
  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate health and environmental risks.
  • Notify leadership of unsafe conditions, unlawful activities, or unreasonable risks.
  • Report all safety and/or environmental incidents immediately.
  • Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to implement Lean Manufacturing and 5-S programs.
  • Participate on project teams, star point teams, and kaizen events as needed.
  • Attend and participate in all required training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime, including extended shifts and weekends, to meet business needs.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Sound decision-making skills.
  • Good math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.
  • Constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment and hoists, if needed.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work in hot temperatures.
  • Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting.

Organizational Relationships

Reports directly to Value Stream Team Leader and works closely with other departments to resolve process and equipment issues.
