About the role
This position is based in Sumter, South Carolina and follows a 3-2-2-3 schedule including weekends (3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off). The role involves material handling duties including pallet/case picking, order processing, and pallet building in a distribution environment.
Responsibilities
- Pallet/Case picking: processing customer orders including scanning bar codes, picking and labeling boxes, pick and pack orders, processing orders through RF technology
- Maintain acceptable work area as outlined in SOP and work instructions
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in SOP
- Complete all necessary RF device training to obtain the necessary profiles
- Responsible for accuracy verification and shipment packaging
- Pallet building: palletizing including scanning, retrieving and placing completed orders on pallets; re-palletizing products for shipment
- May be responsible for dock manifest duties which includes scanning completed pallets and running the shrink wrapper
- May be required to transport pallets by walking MHE
- Follow all safety instructions to maintain safe working conditions and adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injuries and illnesses
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned
- Adhere to attendance policies
- Maintain current status in C2C training modules
- Understand organizational quality goals
- Perform job activities in a safe and reasonable manner and in accordance with safety requirements
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and promote a safe environment
- Report all injuries, accidents, unsafe acts, hazards or conditions immediately
- Report any suspicious persons or activity
- Maintain a clean and professional image; follow guidelines for facility cleanliness
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area at all times
- Become knowledgeable with the responsibilities of other warehouse positions; assist as required and act as back up during absences or vacations
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED or 1 year of relevant experience required
- Minimum of 6 months of previous experience driving a forklift (stand up forklift experience preferred)
- Eye exam required
- 10 Panel Drug Screen required - must complete within 48 hours of acceptance of job offer
- Candidates can start while background checks are pending, once drug screening and criminal background checks have cleared
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
Qualifications
- Experience with Walkie Ryder (motorized Pallet Jack) preferred
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects
- Ability to work in a fast paced distribution environment
- Ability to read and interpret distribution documents
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- May be required to operate MHE and use Voice/RF scanner
- Ability to perform/operate in a metrics-driven environment
- Basic analytical, organizational and prioritization skills
- General distribution knowledge
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation
Physical Demands
- Regularly exposed to episodes of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, twisting, lifting
- Frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type including repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers
- May occasionally be required to climb
- May require lifting up to 50lbs in some areas
- Position will almost always have exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment
