Material Coordinator
Job Description
The Material Coordinator II coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities, and compiles and maintains manual or computerized records.
- Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
- Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
- Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Arranges in plant transfer materials to meet production schedules.
- Computes amount of material required to complete job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
- Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records, such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
- Moves or transports materials from one department to another, manually or using material handling equipment.
- Arranges for repair and assembly of material of part.
- Review and close WIP jobs for accuracy.
- Facilitates cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Generates production schedule for various manufacturing departments.
- Aid in the training of floor personnel in oracle system as well as serve as backup foreman.

- Extensive knowledge of Wilsonart family brands products, patterns, and finishes.
- Working knowledge of truck schedules and loading times.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in person and via email.
- Proactive mindset to identify and resolve distribution process issues.
- Working knowledge of company policies and programs pertaining to safety and quality.
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
- Knowledge of computers sufficient to evaluate the material inventories.
- Knowledge of the products marketed and their manufacturing process.
- Knowledge of distribution process.
- Knowledge of production scheduling.
- Knowledge of mathematics sufficient to calculate square footage.
- Ability to communicate well in oral and written forms with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to type sufficient to input data.
- Ability to operate a10-key calculator.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Education
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED or three years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Three years of relevant work history.
Physical Requirements
Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight 50 to100 lbs.
Environment
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness.
Schedule
Within this role it is necessary and most effective to operate during off schedule days or hours while the Distribution Center is not actively stocking or pulling from bin locations. The scheduled days and hours for team members will be subject to change and may not be the same as team members in other roles within the department.
