Material Control Specialist - 3rd Shift

About the role

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Materials Control Specialist position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will be responsible for site receiving and inventory control for small parts.

Responsibilities

  • Control movement of materials to work stations or to storage areas based on requirements supplied by the Supervisor or others
  • Check incoming raw material against the supplier paperwork as it is unloaded
  • Check material for markings
  • Check BOL, Certified Mill Test reports and match to PO
  • Note discrepancies on the physical receipt of material on the BOL
  • Receive and unload materials. Catalog and mark materials to insure proper storage
  • Enter data and complete required reports
  • Maintain paperwork on arriving materials and distribute to the appropriate person
  • Assemble kits per manufacturing requirements in advance of the production schedule
  • Work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time product without errors
  • Use various types of material handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes to unload and move materials
  • Complete TPM inspection of the forklift and cranes in-use and rigging equipment on a daily basis
  • Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management
  • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years' experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired
  • Knowledge of various receiving and inventory storage procedures
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Able to learn and work according to Valmont's environmental policies

Preferred skills

  • Prior forklift and overhead crane experience preferred
  • An understanding of job-related programs
  • Knowledge of Valmont's quality procedures, standards, and practices
  • Experience with IFS software systems
  • Ability to work independently on tasks to meet deadlines
  • Able to analyze situations to resolve problems
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
