Responsibilities

  • Identify, implement, and track critical metrics for inventory with reaction points clearly identified.
  • Investigate and solve problems through root cause analysis resulting from cycle counting.
  • Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
  • Keep abreast of materials and warehousing capacity and constraints.
  • Manage department associates to create a team-based environment with open/candid communications and direct accountability to ensure departments operate efficiently.
  • Deliver world-class delivery, inventory performance with a focus on quality, on-time delivery, and competitive costs.
  • Develop the annual business plan/tactical plan as part of the leadership team and ensure all department objectives are achieved.
  • Interview applicants for the department in accordance with applicable laws and train new employees.
  • Oversee and manage annual performance and ongoing performance management within the department.
  • Recommend and take corrective action in compliance with quality audits and issues.
  • Support the Critical Success Factors of the business as directed by the manager.
  • Oversee and monitor the receiving and materials department.
  • Manage inventory levels, inventory accuracy, and integrity.
  • Lead the Excess and Obsolete Inventory process/material using root cause analysis to minimize effect on the company.
  • Manage inventory operations at multiple locations.
  • Oversee Outside Processing routing step for all internal discrete jobs sent out for machine work or plating.
  • Act as the liaison between the company and auditors (Internal or External).
  • Develop storage plan strategy for make/buy and free issued materials and products.
  • Provide leadership in ongoing cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.
  • Develop, implement, and execute logistics sourcing strategies, practices, and procedures in alignment with business unit leaders.
  • Develop and implement negotiation strategies for logistic services, including inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, crating/packaging, and freight bill auditing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS degree in a technical field; or 5+ years of related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong materials management background required.
  • Demonstrated track record of cost reductions.
  • Good management skills and capability to evaluate and staff the Materials organization with strong players.

Skills

  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Experience with ISO 9000 quality system requirements.
  • Ability to utilize MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability to develop a system to eliminate material line shortages and multiple schedule changes.
  • Ability to manage inventory levels and increase inventory turns.
  • Effective use of MS Office Suite.
  • Six Sigma experience; green or black belt certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of Oracle MRP systems a plus.
  • Must be able to work extended hours when required.
  • Understanding of the financial impact of effective inventory management.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Must be responsible and dependable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills.
