Material Control Lab Technician – 1st Shift (Onsite)

About the Role

The CSMC organization is looking to add a Material Control Lab Technician to the team. This role involves performing evaluations of major rotating hardware for various manufacturing special processes, including sample preparation, evaluation, disposition, and quality documentation of materials and processes. Interpretation of blueprints, specifications, procedures, and laboratory manuals to assess testing requirements and conformance is critical.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of special manufacturing processes, primarily heat treating and plasma spray coatings.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and procedures to determine required testing and conformance to requirements.
• Regularly interact with Production Operations personnel and other Engineering disciplines to address metallurgical issues and develop root cause and corrective actions for manufacturing-related problems.
• Provide clear, concise, and accurate lab reports.
• Maintain records and retain prepared samples according to procedure.
• Monitor testing frequency of all processes and develop evaluation sheets for tested parts.
• Investigate parts and process-related problems.
• Be available for travel for training purposes and occasional off-shift coverage based on business needs.
• Utilize CORE tools and continuous improvement practices to maintain EH&S and operating requirements for a safe and productive working environment.

Qualifications You Must Have

• High School diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Proficiency in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Prior experience in metallurgical testing, evaluation, and documentation.
• Quality and/or manufacturing material background.
• Familiarity with microscope evaluation techniques, including brightfield, darkfield, and polarized light microscopy.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations.
• Experience with root cause investigations, corrective actions, and problem-solving.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $41,400 USD - $72,600 USD. The range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
