Job Overview
We're looking for a Material Area Supervisor to lead hourly work teams responsible for unloading, storing, and delivering material that keeps our stamping plant running. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, unionized manufacturing environment and wants to grow their career in automotive operations.
What's the Job?
- Lead the safety, delivery, cost, quality, and morale of hourly work teams
- Develop Team Leaders to meet corporate guidelines and improve material delivery processes using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles
- Cook up daily team activities to hit key business metrics
- Manage multiple work teams in a high-volume, fast-paced unionized manufacturing setting
- Ensure inventory accuracy and record integrity
- Maintain strong working relationships with both management and union-represented employees
- Oversee and develop high-functioning teams of Team Leaders and Team Members
- Focus on material flow, highload drivers, and rack movement to/from press lines
What's Needed?
- 0-3 years of experience preferred (more experience welcome)
- Automotive experience strongly preferred
- Stamping plant experience is a plus
- Experience with material handling, raw materials, pallets, lifts, or large PIV equipment preferred
- Ability to work any shift in a 3-shift operation (shift assignment based on experience and plant needs; may rotate)
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Bachelor's degree not required
- Strong leadership and communication skills in a team-based environment
