General Summary & Scope

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, guest service, and operational compliance. This role requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed sales goals of $1,250 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service. Contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services during work time, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store and well-rounded guest experience.
• Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships to collaboratively deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards, including safety, sanitation, and infection control.
• Follow state board guidelines and established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Utilize booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention best practices.
• Protect company assets by providing exceptional guest service.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant work experience.
• Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Proficiency with use of equipment and chemicals needed to perform technical work.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Developed communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

Schedule

Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Continuous mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
