MASTER'S LEVEL Mental Health Intake Clinician - Float
Job Summary
The Intake Clinician provides clinical assessment and triage services within the Comprehensive Services Center (CSC). This role evaluates individuals for psychiatric treatment needs, makes appropriate referrals to CSC and community-based services, and supports access to care in the least restrictive setting. The Intake Clinician works to reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and ensure timely connection to appropriate services.
Responsibilities

Counsels and assesses individuals for psychiatric treatment needs, makes appropriate referrals to CSC and community-based services, and supports access to care in the least restrictive setting.

Evaluates crisis calls, walk-ins, and referrals using Baker Act criteria and DSM-5 standards to determine service needs.

Completes and documents screenings, assessments, and all required clinical information in accordance with CSC policies and procedures.

Develops diagnostic impressions based on assessment findings. Identifies appropriate service types, frequency, and level of care. Develops initial treatment plans.

Determines and facilitates appropriate level of care in accordance with clinical findings and established procedures. Ensures appropriate follow-up and continuity of care, connecting individuals to ongoing treatment as indicated.

Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential clinical records and remains current on Baker Act requirements, forms, and procedures.

Serves as an advocate by explaining Baker Act regulations to families, agencies, and other stakeholders to support patient rights and safety.

Completes required financial and authorization documentation.

Affirms knowledge of third-party payer requirements, including notifications and pre-certifications for outpatient and inpatient services.

Assesses and monitors for risk factors, trauma symptoms, and signs of abuse, neglect, or abandonment; follows appropriate reporting protocols.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work or a related Human Services field from an accredited college or university required.

Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with mental illness required.

Must demonstrate proficiency in MHRC EHR System within three months of employment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and internet use required.

Valid Florida Registered Intern credential (IMH, ISW, or IMT) or Florida licensure (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT) preferred.
Position Details

This position is a Full Time Days position: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm and will float between MHRC North and MHRC South.
