Job Summary

The Master Planner reviews client demands, plans production orders, issues and controls production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials to meet production requirements and customer demand. Identifies raw material and component requirements for production. Clearly communicates with management on the status of WIP, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that adequate resources are provided. Confirms material supply and demands, prepares/releases orders to production, based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with Quality, Maintenance, Inventory Control, Tech Services, Manufacturing/Packaging Operations, Procurement, Regulatory and Customer Service. Coordinates and monitors scheduling activities to ensure regulatory and cGMP compliance, while maintaining achievement of department and company objectives. Represents the department in the participation and contribution to teams such as project teams, continuous improvement, and SAP system enhancements.

Essential Functions

  • Manage production planning duties to ensure production plans are created while evaluating material availability to support customer requirements while also ensuring that we are optimizing the plant efficiencies and resources.
  • Plans, prepares, analyzes, and controls production schedules and material requirements to ensure orderly flow and delivery of customer requirements.
  • Professionally manages cross-functional relationships to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Communicates clearly with internal customers to ensure timely, accurate flow of information.
  • Coincides closely with Manufacturing, Packaging, Customer Service, Procurement, Quality Services, Tech Services, Engineering and Maintenance, IT, and Business Development.
  • Analyzes and plans, anticipates obstacles and resource constraints, and develops contingency strategies to meet organizational priorities.
  • Runs capacity planning scenarios, evaluates new business opportunities, identifies potential bottlenecks or shortages in both machine and resource capacities.
  • Develops contingency plans when required.
  • Aids in the Development and management of Department budget(s) within predetermined standards.
  • Aids the internal S&OP process, providing production details and reports and analysis, where required.
  • Ensures timely responses to customer production requests.

Minimum Education, Experience, Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • Planning and Procurement experience required.
  • At least 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment comparable to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of cGMP's and regulated environments required.
  • Detail-oriented, and proactive problem-solving skills required.
  • SAP experience is desired.
  • APICS certification strongly preferred.
