MASTER MECHANIC

Position Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or associate degree in HVAC/R or a related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a maintenance field required
• Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely
• Strong customer service skills when interacting with hospital staff
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to typical maintenance standards
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends or on-call as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and fixtures (lighting, doors, plumbing, HVAC filters, etc.)
• Respond to basic maintenance requests from clinical and non-clinical departments in a timely manner
• Assist senior mechanics with more complex repairs involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical support systems
• Conduct minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, repairing wall fixtures, tightening hardware, and patching small surfaces
• Inspect equipment and facilities to identify potential safety hazards or maintenance needs
• Document all work performed in the hospital’s maintenance management system
• Follow hospital safety protocols, including infection control, PPE use, and regulatory compliance
• Support emergency response efforts such as power outages, equipment failures, or facility incidents
• Maintain tools and work areas in clean, safe, and organized conditions

Position Purpose

To Demonstrate Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic HVAC/R systems
Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory documents.
Show strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Show excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to interact professionally with hospital staff, patients, and vendors.
Show physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or adverse conditions.
