Master Mechanic (A Tech) - Budget Truck - FT
About the role
Avis Budget Group is immediately hiring for a Technical Lead Mechanic to support Budget Truck operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience, with current ASE certifications (at least 3) and the ability to obtain 2 additional certifications within the first year. The role involves performing standard and complex mechanical repairs, acting as a technical expert and mentor, and driving Budget Trucks on public roads.
Responsibilities
- Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs, including warranty work, on a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision.
- Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning, and onboard computer systems.
- Support diagnostics, repair strategies, and best practices as a technical expert and mentor to other technicians.
- Drive Budget Trucks on public roads for testing, repair verification, or transport needs.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C)
- Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience
- Current ASE certifications (minimum of 3), with the ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year
- Strong knowledge across ASE areas including, but not limited to: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and near a mechanical shop with moderate noise levels
- Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance
- This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely
- Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license (Class A, B, or C), minimum of 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience, and current ASE certifications (at least 3). They should also be able to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year. Strong knowledge across ASE areas is required, along with willingness to work outdoors in various conditions and basic computer skills.

Pay
$30.00/hour. Factors which may affect starting pay may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Schedule
