About the role

Performs master craftsman and lead work associated with installation, inspection, and maintenance of wastewater systems, equipment, materials and fixtures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs experienced or master craftsman level work associated with wastewater lift station systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Responds to assigned work orders relating to electrical systems; troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution.
  • Replaces faulty or defective plumbing equipment and systems.
  • Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed.
  • Adheres to laws, regulations and requirements set forth in the Wake County Public School System’s (WCPSS) safety procedures/policies.
  • Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Five years of experience directly related to wastewater and/or plumbing systems installation and repair.
  • Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards;
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.
  • Associates degree or technical school training in plumbing systems; Hold a valid Wastewater Collection System Operator License or obtain one within 12 months of hiring.

Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of wastewater systems, lift stations, and associated equipment; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Google Apps; Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards; Critical thinking and problem solving skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction; Ability to perform arithmetic calculations; Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.

Skills
