Master Craftsman

Job Responsibilities

• Construction and/or renovations to SCPRT facilities and maintenance to buildings and grounds.
• Aids Construction Foreman with planning and staging of materials.
• Helps with job phases to ensure tasks are performed in an efficient manner.
• Communicates regularly with Foreman about any problems that may arise during projects.
• Performs Historic Restoration projects involving carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
• Maintains tools and equipment on a daily basis.
• Stores tools in proper locations and periodically checks for any defective or broken tools.
• Affirms the maintenance program and its resources are managed and implemented in an efficient and effective manner.
• Fulfills all state, agency, and program processes, procedures, operations, and laws.
• Maintains positive working relationships with all visitor services staff and managers, SCPRT staff, contractors, vendors, and other partners to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
• Promotes a team atmosphere.
• Serves as a leader in providing a safe, healthy, and pleasing stop with facilities, grounds and services that exceed guest expectations.
• Practice and promote teamwork within the Agency.
• Serves as a liaison to business and governmental groups, state industry, etc.
• Abides by the Agency Code of Conduct.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and 3+ years in facilities maintenance, grounds and repair, park maintenance, construction or related experience.
• Able to manage several projects at a time and coordinate resources across the state.
• Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in construction and maintenance.
• Working knowledge and competency in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing trades.
• Ability to communicate effectively, understand written instructions and read building drawings.
• Valid SC Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades preferred.

Additional Comments

• Actual Job Location: Construction & Maintenance - Field Monday-Thursday, 40 hours weekly.
