Key Responsibilities

• Makes sure facility access is monitored and controlled
• Makes sure the facility, youth, and line movement are monitored
• Places and answers calls, remembers names of facility staff, and facility program routines
• Documents visitor entry and exit, off-site trips and appointments of youth and staff
• Authorizes, monitors, and documents youth movement
• Monitors video systems
• Performs perimeter checks at the beginning and end of each shift
• Communicates emergencies to the appropriate staff
• Notifies supervisor of receipt of paperwork, court orders, etc.
• Logs all staff entering and leaving the facility
• Maintains perimeter security, monitors fence, fire, and security alarms
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one year experience working with at-risk youth or working in a monitoring/control role in an institutional setting

Skills

• Ability to think and act independently
• Advanced oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands

• Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable
• Must be able to move about the property
• Must be able to participate in youth activities
• Must be able to transport youth or staff
• Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state and to the extent that data is attainable under the law
• Must be able to pass PAR evaluation of physical techniques and written certification exam

Other

• Maintain an appropriate and valid state driver’s license
• Meet state criminal background check requirements
