Master Carpenter

About the role

Jack Miller Contractors is a full-service building and remodeling general contractor seeking Master Carpenters to serve the high-design and high-performance residential construction market in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, Southern Vermont, and the Eastern Capital District of New York State.

This position reports to the carpentry team leader and works under the direct supervision of the Superintendent. The JMC Master Carpenter is the ‘frame to finish’ expert, using appropriate means and methods of residential construction. They manage the JMC carpentry team for the JMC Superintendent and assist with administrative duties while following all standard safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, alter, and repair building structures and components
• Participate in staff meetings and educational opportunities
• Mentor and teach other team members
• Manage the JMC carpentry team for the Superintendent
• Assist with administrative duties
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal construction codes and regulations

Requirements

• Master carpenter skills and experience
• Strong understanding of building science principles
• Demonstrates solid teamwork approach
• Excellent time management and planning skills
• Proficiency with computers and software
• In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction codes and regulations
• Excellent mentoring and teaching skills
• Well-founded ethics and integrity
• Excellent stamina and ability to meet all work conditions
