Masalit Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Masalit-English Phone Interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Masalit and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Adapt to any LLS technology enhancements to improve service delivery.
• Understand and follow protocol and terminology for various industries.
• Provide cultural sensitivity and handle sensitive topics with professionalism.

Requirements

• Fluency in Masalit and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to concentrate and remain neutral during interpreting sessions.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must have access to a quiet space and a reliable internet connection.
• Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse for long periods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English and Masalit.

Skills

• Strong language skills in Masalit and English.
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
• Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive topics.
• Technical proficiency with company-provided software and systems.

Pay

$1.25 - $1.40 per minute.

Schedule

This is a remote position where the Interpreter works from his/her home-office. It is essential to ensure a quiet & secure environment.
