About the role
The Patient Registration Clerk performs a variety of registration duties to provide access to healthcare. This includes registration of inpatient and outpatient services, clerical duties, and general administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Accurately collects and enters all patient demographic and financial information for all registration types.
- Verifies the correct insurance is listed in the account.
- Processes pre-registrations for all appointment types and locations, excluding ER.
- Answers phone and returns voicemails timely.
- Works well within the team environment and maintains open communication with co-workers.
- Estimates patient financial liability (copayments, deductibles, coinsurances, deposits, etc.) and actively collects, receipts, posts and reconciles cash.
- Maintains quality review scores of 80% or higher, 9 out of 12 months of the year.
- Uses all eligibility resources available to verify the correct insurance is listed in the account.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Customer service experience required.
- Previous clerical and Meditech experience desirable, but not required.
- A good understanding of medical terminology helpful.
Qualifications
- License/Certification/Education Required: High school graduate or GED required.
- Experience/Skills Required: Customer service experience required. Receives on the job training under close supervision.
- Preferred: Previous clerical and Meditech experience desirable, but not required. A good understanding of medical terminology helpful.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills and knowledge.
- Understanding of their role in Press Ganey/HCAHPS scores.
- Focuses on their contribution in positively influencing patients experience and likelihood to recommend.
Benefits
Includes holidays, weekends, and evenings shifts. Must work every other weekend and Holidays. Also, must be available to train on first and second shift the first 5-6 weeks. EPIC training/classes are in Worcester for the first two weeks 8am-4pm. Must attend orientation and EPIC trainings during the first two weeks of hire.
Pay
$17.69 - $28.01 per hour.
