Marketing Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled Marketing Specialist to help us in our overall marketing efforts. This person will be an integral part of the development and execution of marketing plans to reach targets from brand awareness to product promotion. Strong candidates are competent professionals who grasp consumer behavior trends and generate creative ideas, well-versed in specialized marketing concepts, principles, and tactics. The goal is to deliver effective marketing programs that enhance our reputation and growth.

Additionally, this role involves writing coherent, organized, and compelling proposals, applying knowledge of fundraising methods to reach goals, managing fundraising compliance and reporting, and collaborating with team members to acquire large grants (public, private, local, and national). A strong commitment to the mission and vision of One City Schools is essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research to identify consumer requirements, habits, and trends.
• Brainstorm and develop ideas for creative marketing campaigns.
• Assist in outbound or inbound marketing activities, including content development, optimization, advertising, and events planning.
• Work with the Events Manager to liaise with external vendors for promotional events and campaigns.
• Collaborate with marketing and other professionals to coordinate brand awareness and marketing efforts.
• Plan and execute initiatives to reach target audiences through appropriate channels (social media, email, television, radio, etc.).
• Analyze marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic) to shape future strategies.
• Undertake individual tasks within the marketing plan as assigned.
• Collaborate with the External Relations team on the entire grant process, including research, identification, compliance, and reporting for local and national grants (public and private).
• Maintain and implement a calendar of grant deadlines.
• Prepare grant applications and proposals.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of One City Schools’ programs, goals, and financial objectives.
• Develop relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders.
• Adhere to the organization’s mission and maintain proficient knowledge of its history and programs.
• Assist with the execution of the External Relations department strategy.
• Collaborate with External Relations and Operations teams to compile annual reports.
• Maintain records in hard copies and computer databases.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Marketing Specialist or similar role.
• Thorough understanding of marketing elements (traditional and digital, including SEO and social media) and market research methods.
• Demonstrable experience in marketing data analytics and tools.
• Solid computer skills, including MS Office, marketing software (Adobe Creative Suite & CRM), and applications (Web analytics, Google AdWords, etc.).
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web development tools (e.g., Dreamweaver) is desired.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented.
• Exceptional communication and writing skills.
• Commercial awareness paired with a creative mind.
• BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent.
• Strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of One City Schools.
• Commitment to working with children from diverse racial/cultural populations and their families (experience preferred).
• Ability to regularly and routinely lift and push at least 50 pounds.
• Completion of a background check is required.
