Overview

Under the direction of a Marketing Leadership, is responsible for the effective marketing of insurance risks to companies. Works at a strategic level to develop and retain consultative relationships with customers, prospects, producers, service team members and insurance company underwriters, all in support of HUB New England’s retention and growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Marks all lines of commercial insurance with direct impact on revenue goals through the acquisition of new business and the retention of renewals.
  • Negotiates coverage terms, structure, and pricing with underwriters through direct carrier relationships whenever possible and access preferred wholesale when necessary.
  • If applicable, underwrites commercial accounts within insurance company delegated underwriting authority, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Acts as account liaison for the producer in dealing with other departments within Hub International New England for the quoting of specialized lines of coverage.
  • Aids producers with pre-underwriting information gathering, coverage review/analysis and proposal preparation and presentations if needed.
  • Executes a quality control process for policies and quotations delivered assuring coverage, condition, rating, and pricing accuracy.
  • Effectively builds relationships with insurance company underwriters through a pattern of professional risk submissions, company visitations and firm, but fair, negotiations.
  • Maintains state of the art knowledge of market underwriting appetite, line of business trends, insurance company changes, rating technique and coverage development.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of our company utilization strategies by appropriate risk submissions.
  • Attends and participates in new business and renewal presentations to prospects and clients in support of Producers and service team colleagues.
  • Supports the maintenance of new business and renewal control logs, which assist the department head in identifying trends.
  • Works effectively and efficiently with other team members.
  • Provides training and support to junior staff/team members in areas of competence.
  • Ensures that HUB Way Marketing Workflows are captured through utilization of agency management system in accordance with HUB policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Seven plus years of experience in marketing or underwriting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage upper middle as well as large and complex property and casualty accounts; effectively market to carriers and customers; develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers and prospects.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial lines coverages and markets.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent negotiation, organizational, interpersonal, communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Broker

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 annually - $130,000 annually and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
